Dear Stronghold Community,

As climbers, we are used to managing risk.  The spread of the new coronavirus is a new kind of risk, and we are asking for your help in managing it.

Based on recommendations from the City of Los Angeles, LA County Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control, and the World Health Organization, please take the following precautions:

  • Do not come to the gym if you are feeling unwell.
  • Wash your hands before and after your climbing session for at least 20 seconds using soap and warm water.
  • Cover up coughs/sneezes with your bent elbow or with a disposable tissue that is discarded immediately.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth, and avoid close contact (6 feet, per the CDC) with anyone exhibiting symptoms of illness.

We have added signage to reinforce these messages, and we have increased the availability of disinfecting wipes and alcohol spray to use between hand-washes.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and implement the recommendations of the relevant health authorities.  At this point, there is no reason to disrupt your normal routine at the gym unless you are feeling unwell.  Indeed, exercise, along with eating well and getting enough rest, is known to enhance immunity, and therefore can be a way to remain healthy.

Please take good care of yourself and climb on!

Sincerely,

The Stronghold
